Trait Constellation

Key Achievements

In 1895 at Presidency College, Calcutta, he demonstrated millimetre-wave transmission through walls, building a coherer, transmitter, antenna and other components; the work received an IEEE Milestone.

Turning from physics to plant physiology, he built sensitive instruments such as the crescograph to record plant growth and responses and argued there is no sharp line between living and non-living response.

In 1917 he opened the Bose Institute in Calcutta as a research institution.

Moments That Reveal Them

Resolving in 1894 to take up research with no laboratory, he built his first apparatus within about three months with the help of an untrained tinsmith.

This is consistent with making progress through improvised means rather than waiting for facilities. Resourcefulness

Turning Points

Around 1900-1903, after finding that metal receivers showed 'fatigue' and recovery like muscle, he moved from radio-wave physics to the study of living tissue and then plants.

This is consistent with following an anomaly across disciplinary boundaries. Cross-Domain Range
